I was with Em (wife), and we had gone into a Blockbuster to look for video games. It was night time out, and it seemed kind of strange and hazy out. There were some street lights that added a ruddy tint to the haze outside, and we seemed to be along some sort of two lane highway.
Blockbuster was just a building out in the middle of nowhere that was just off the side of the road. There may have been some city lights in the distance, but I just know that this building was out all by itself out there. Anyway, I think we were looking for games to buy rather than
rent. We went in and browsed around for a bit. (There was another dream I had had where this same video store was in it. I think it was supposed to be over in Grottoes before, but now it was Blockbuster, and I'm not really sure what town or state it was supposed to be in, but I know it wasn't in Grottoes, VA.)
The inside seemed kind of dark, but it was lit quite a bit by smaller lamps, track lights, and neon signs. It had a strange pink/purple glow in there, almost as if the entire inside were lit by lots of Christmas lights rather than real lighting. We started out in the middle of the store, but we quickly made our way over to the far left side at the front corner. The games were all in this
one little area, and they were situated much like the DVD's are at Sam's Club,or how CDs might be arranged in a music store (on cascading "shelves")
As I looked around, I found that they were not only selling game discs, but also some stranger things like some older gaming systems. There was something that I found there that I was just floored about, but I can't remember exactly what it was. It seems that it may have had something to do with an old Nintendo, or Zelda, or an old Atari, or something like that. In the dream I knew exactly what it was, but now I'm having trouble recalling what it was.
Anyway, I think that Em came over to look at it, too, and I really wanted to get it, but I didn't want to spend the money. I don't think that it cost very much, but I still thought of it as extra money that I'd have to pay. I moved on for a bit and looked at other game discs for the PlayStation 2. I think I also looked at some for the XBox, but I can't remember what games I looked at. Whatever they were, though, they seemed very familiar. The proprietor of the store came over at one point and was talking to us and asking us if we needed anything, and while he was a nice enough guy, we felt like he was watching us because he thought we were going to try to take something. I think we eventually wound up leaving empty handed.
