I was in a factory/school. I was up on this mezzanine area, and I was waiting to be able to leave
for the day. While I was waiting, everyone was making toys (stuffed animals and the like) and I remember making an Elmo doll and doing something that made it say something that was particularly funny. I showed it around to a number of people, and they had fun messing around with it. Finally we were allowed to go.
I left, and when I got outside, it was dark out. One of my co-workers needed a ride home, and since her place was on the way to mine, I offered her a ride. We went to look for my car, but we didn't see it around, so we started to walk, figuring that I had walked there in the first place.
The area we were in was like the main street of Mount Sidney, VA, right around the stop light area.
We got to her apartment complex, and for some reason I expected to see my car in the parking lot there, but I didn't see it anywhere. I wound up turning around and walking back to work, thinking that it must be there, but I had just missed it. She walked with me (as if because I hadn't given her a ride in the car, she couldn't actually go home) She was telling me that I needed to buy a new car, and be sure to get something that wasn't so junky as my Hyundai. I kept telling her that it was not a junky car, and that it was practically new having just bought it in '99. She didn't agree with me, though. We were talking about this during most of the walk. At one point we even passed a used car dealership, and she was telling me that I needed to "get one of those cars" because they'd be better than what I had.
We got back to the parking lot at work and sure enough, there was my car, parked practically by the road. I was looking at my car, somehow intending on proving how non-junky my car was, but I kept finding places where the paint was rusting off or places where there were tears or holes in the body, on the bumper, or wherever. I didn't get upset about it though. I just figured it was from rocks and gravel flying up from the road while I was driving. So we got into my car, and I pulled to the edge of the parking lot, waiting for a break in the traffic. Finally I was able to pull out, and we left.
The next thing I know is that I'm pulling in to a church parking lot with Em (my wife. The co-worker had changed into Em during this time) and we got out and went inside. On the inside, it wasn't really like a church, though. It was more like an old house. There was an old lady inside who was supposed to be running the place. She was very stern and proper. She had gray hair pulled up into a tight bun, and she was wearing a nice dress, possibly a pale peach, orange, or tan color.
I believe that at one point, she pulled out a deck of cards. She shuffled them or spread them out or something, and when we touched the faces of certain cards different things would happen to our surroundings. Unfortunately, I don't remember the first couple of things that happened, but the first major thing I remember is that Em was telling the lady that we had been together back in 1267, and I had the same wedding ring then that I had on now. The lady said "Oh no he didn't" and touched the face of one of the cards.
We were suddenly surrounded by what looked like a castle sort of area, and I remember seeing two men/creatures there with us. Everything was dark and brooding. Somehow this was supposed to prove to Em that either her and I weren't together at that time, or that I didn't have the same ring on. In looking around, the lady had disappeared, but the deck of cards were there on a wooden table near by. I spread them out, and I was looking for the aces. I somehow knew that the aces would transport us back to our original time and location. I found one, and
touched the face of it (almost as if I were pressing a button). Everything around us sort of rippled, and suddenly we were surrounded by a lot of fire.
I could feel the presence of something really bad there with us. We still had the cards, though, and so I searched through and found another ace. I touched it the same way as the first, and everything around us started rippling again, but this time it didn't really stop. There were loud noises like strong winds and screaming. (somewhat like when Frodo was invisible in Lord Of The
Rings) Em was terrified, and she was wanting to go through and try touching all the cards until we found the one that got us home. I knew that was a bad idea, and I was somehow able to convince her not to.
Then through the rippling, I could make out the pattern of the wallpaper of the old house/church we had started out in. I remembered something that had happened earlier where I had somehow been shown that touching various spots on the pattern would do the same as the cards. I knew what shape in the pattern I was looking for, but at the same time, I knew that I wouldn't know it for sure until I saw it. I touched one part of the pattern, and the outlines of the pattern
started to glow red and flow outwards from the point where I had touched it.
Everything was getting louder and more frightening, but I knew if I found the right shape, I could get out with Em. Then finally I saw it. It was like a four-leaf clover without a stem. I went over to it and was kneeling on a rock to be able to reach it. Almost as if in slow motion, I reached up and pushed on it as if it were a button, and though it didn't move, everything suddenly stopped.
We were back in the church/house. The old lady was there, almost smiling at us for being able to figure out how to get out of there. I think that wound up keeping the deck of cards, and Em and I left. Somehow I knew we had been on some sort of great spiritual trip, but I didn't really know the meaning of it. (and I still don't) But I was thinking that I intended to go back and explore it sometime, so that instead of being scared the whole time, I could go back and learn from it.
