Select-A-Date for Charity

I was in some sort of diner/restaurant, and it was night time out. While I was sitting there eating, I realized that I was there with a bunch of people from my graduating class. We were all supposed to still be in school, and we were there to start out working on some project. I was sitting at a table with Scott (best friend from elementary school), and we were discussing something about time travel, or time altering. He had some idea about how to warp time so that travel to and from places could seem instantaneous to the world, but the traveler would actually have to take the time for the journey.

While we were sitting there, the door on the left side of of the diner opened up, and in came a group of girls. One of the girls was Christine (tall girl from elementary school). Actually, she was the one surrounded by all the others, as if they were all enthralled with her and wanting to all be her best friend at the same time. One thing that I noticed very quickly was that she was in a wheel chair. She had been in some sort of accident (I think I knew at the time what that accident had been, although I can't remember it now) and was in the chair because of it.

I think I waited until her throng of friends went to go order or something, and I went over to her and said hi. She seemed tired, but excited to see me. We talked for a moment, and then I went back over and sat down at the table with Scott.

The next thing I know, I'm standing outside of the garage that used to be standing next to the Big Barn at Grandmamma's House. Scott is in the gravel area, and he had a tractor and some other big equipment. He was getting stuff set up for his time experiment.

While he was doing that, there were a couple of girls from Christine's group of friends that came up to talk to me one at a time. Somehow I had become part of some sort of contest. Each of these girls were trying to woo me into going out on some sort of date with them. The first one was a chunky blond girl, and the second was a short and short-haired redheaded girl. In between talking to them, I was watching Scott try out his experiment.

Near the garage, there was something set up to fire a large (five or six feet) arrow with a rope tied to the back. As the arrow progressed through the air towards the Garber's farm, the area behind it went back in time. As Scott went over to pick up the arrow, time flowed as usual, and by the time he got to the arrow and picked it up, the time was now back to the exact moment that he had fired it. The arrow/rope thing actually allowed someone to fire it at their destination, and from that point on, however long it took for them to travel to that destination, it would allow them to arrive at that destination at the exact same moment that they had fired the arrow. So, while the travel took time for the person firing the arrow, to the person at the destination, it seemed that the travel was instantaneous. I thought it was pretty ingenious in the dream.

While Scott was preparing for the final phase of the experiment, the friends of Christine came up and started talking to me again, trying to win me over as their "date". I wound up hunting down Christine (who was actually in the garage at the time, and standing, although feebly, on her own two legs) and telling her that I wanted her to be my date instead of any of the other girls. She was shyly happy about it, but somehow word spread quickly. I went to go talk to the chunky blond girl, and she already knew that I had chosen Christine. She was giving me the cold shoulder treatment, but I told her anyway just so there would be no confusion as to what I had chosen to do. I didn't want any of it to come back and haunt me later because I hadn't been specific with this girl that I had not chosen her. After talking to her, I then spoke briefly to the redheaded girl and told her the same thing. She treated me the same way.

Then I got back to Scott and the time experiment. He fired off the arrow, and it flew out in slow motion. I made a "slow gunshot sound" (like the sound used in the Matrix movies when a gun is fired in slo-mo) and traveled slowly towards the Garber's farm. In it's wake it rippled the air like the visual effects in the Matrix for flying bullets. We then got aboard the tractor that Scott had there with him, and we traveled down to the Garber's farm. After we got there, we were suddenly on a school bus. Christine was there, and she was sitting somewhere around me (either in the same seat as me, or in one in front of or behind me) The time it took to travel there was instantaneous to the rest of the world because of Scott's invention. I started talking to Christine about the "date" that we were supposed to go out on, and she was smiling shyly. It was about here that the dream ended.
