[If you haven't yet, read part 1 first]
It started out that I was driving in a pick-up truck to Staunton to pick up some mulch. I remember being on Rt 11 just past the Ingleside heading south, but not quite to the stop light at the fork in the road.
Then I remember being on a back road after I had gotten the mulch. It reminded me a lot of the road that goes from Fort Defiance to Sarah's (ex-girlfriend) house. It was kind of like there at the sharp turn before you start going up the hill to the intersection at Pisgah Church. Although, now that I think about it, it also looked quite a bit like the area right when you're going to the Green Valley Book Fair, right when you're at the fork right in front of the house getting ready to go right to get into the parking lot.
Then the next thing I remember I was driving down to the dairy barn, and grandmamma was there spreading some mulch, and I had gone to get her more. She was INSIDE of the dairy barn spreading it, but it was like there wasn't really walls to the outside, but just posts, and she was spreading it around on the mud and dirt floor.
She was spreading it kind of thin, and then all of a sudden it hit me that this wasn't really grandmamma. I think that the fact that she was spreading mulch, and that seemed like something that she wouldn't' be doing was what tipped me off. I think that grandaddy was also close by somewhere, and there was some sort of thought that ran through my mind relating him to the situation, like he'd never let her do such a thing like working like that. (but I know in real life he would've just because they lived on the farm we're on now, only then it was theirs, and they did all the work themselves...)
Anyway, then 'grandmamma' tried to pay me for bringing her the mulch, but I don't think I wanted the money just because I knew it wasn't her. I think I ended up taking the money anyway, though, because she almost started to get mean about it, or I didn't want this thing to get angry with me for not taking it.
Then about the next thing I remember was that I was in the house, and I was getting ready to leave. I think this thing gave me a hug or tried to or something, and as I was getting ready to leave, my mom showed up. We sat down on a sofa down in the dining room where grandmamma used to have it
before we moved in, (in front of the window facing Garber's farm) and the 'grandmamma impostor' went outside to work on the air conditioning unit that was right outside of the window.
I sat at the end closest to Nick's room, and mom sat at the end closest to mine. We were talking about how this thing was impersonating grandmamma, and that it was actually doing a good job at it, but it was 'too technical' because of the stuff it was doing, such as the mulching and the working on the air conditioner.
Then in the lull of the conversation, I looked at mom and told her that I loved her. She then looked at me and told me she loved me, too. Then I looked down, and the sofa had
turned into one of the scrap boxes from work, and there was a lot of sawdust and little strips of
wood in it. (even though in the dream I didn't notice the change) I messed around a little with
the sawdust from the 'front' of the box (the side facing away from Garber's) and then we decided
that we were going to leave.
We got up, and we were walking towards the kitchen, and one of us (I think it was me) got the bright idea to say goodbye to this thing outside the window that was trying to be grandmamma.
So I said 'bye' and it let out this long and painful sounding 'byyyyyyyyyyyeee' in this terrible and raspy (yet almost childish but masculine) voice. Then it did it again, longer and even more painful sounding. I realized that this thing was almost in pain or something from being in grandmamma's form for too long, and even it's face was starting to distort more than it had already been. (faces are almost always distorted in my dreams) and it even almost looked like it was in pain. I saw mom kind of shoot it a glance like asking "What's your problem?", and I kind of did the same. Then I realized that this thing was going to be busting out of grandmamma's form, and something told me that I didn't want to be there when it did, and that ended up scaring me awake.
