I was at Pleasant Valley Church again, and I wound up running into this girl that I used to know from Stewart Middle School. I don't remember who it was (although I looked her up in the yearbooks, I didn't find one that seemed to match) but she was one of the kids who wound up going off to Wilson High School instead of Fort Defiance after 8th grade. She was kind of tall (although most girls seemed kind of tall in middle school *ha!*) and she had dark curly hair. There was a girl named Amanda, and another one named Amy, both of which it could have been, but I don't think it was either one.
Anyway, the service was done for the day, and so I was showing her around the church. I think we went around behind the pulpit where the pastor and the choir get ready, and I think we went behind the stage in the fellowship hall. Eventually we wound up in the fellowship hall, and we were by the fireplace. The fireplace, though, was to the left of the stage rather than on the far right wall by where you enter.
It opened up to reveal a hidden passage. (Unfortunately I don't remember HOW it opened up). We went down through there and wound up in the far end of the basement. We came through the basement and came up the stairs, and we wound up going into the sanctuary. They had closed most of the doors and had turned off the lights. We went in through the far left door (if you're outside of the sanctuary) and went up past about 5 or 10 rows of pews. There were one or two of the ushers left in there, and they were just finishing turning out the lights so that it was completely dark in there. No light was even coming through the stained glass windows even though it was still early evening outside. We were asked to leave the sanctuary so they could finish locking it up, so we did, feeling a little embarrassed because we should have realized that we couldn't stay in there, but it just didn't seem to cross our minds.
We went around and looked at other "secret passages", but I don't remember where those were or what they were like. Finally we went outside from the area of the fellowship hall, and we were on one side of the sanctuary. There was a strange set of doors that opened up on the side of the sanctuary that didn't go into the sanctuary. Instead it seemed kind of like a storage area, but also like a porch of some sort, but at the same time it was like a grand entrance into a cathedral. It was all of these things and none of these things, and even though we should have wound up directly in the sanctuary by going through the wall segments that opened up, we didn't.
I was talking with the girl for a little bit, and then Ben (a guy with braces I knew from middle school that also went to Wilson) showed up. He was getting all gruff and pissy with the girl, telling her things like she shouldn't be going through the church like that, and that she was stupid to be hanging around with me, and things like that. It made her sad, but she didn't cry. I didn't even really react much, even though some of the stuff was directed at me. I did feel bad for her, though, that he was talking to her like that. I may have asked him to stop at one point, but I'm not sure.
