Black Hole [on the] Sun

I was at Grandmamma Miller's house with mom and Em (my wife) and possibly one or both of my brothers. There had been some sort of news broadcast talking about how there was going to be a sudden surge of sun spots, and that a gigantic storm on the sun was going to cause one of the biggest sun spots ever seen.

After a short bit, we were outside on the north side of the house, which faces the Garber's farm.  While we were out there, the sun storm happened.  There was a big explosion, and I could see all sorts of solar flares going out into space, and when it was done, it had a huge sun spot right in the middle of it that was all strange and had a bunch of tendril looking things coming out from it.  It was like a ragged hole was torn in the surface of the sun facing the earth, and the sun seemed very dim all over, very much like this:

I think I was expecting people to have a more terrified reaction to the thing, but for the most part, no one seemed to really care about it.  I kept looking at it because I was just amazed, but I didn't really know what to think or do about it.

Soon after all of this, Em and I had made a call to a new dermatologist for me.  We were trying to set up an appointment, but for some reason we were having a hard time figuring out when I was supposed to have my appointment.  It pretty much ended up that they didn't set a specific appointment for me, but they said that they'd call later in the day to let me know.  I said okay and we hung up.

I'm not sure what we did between the time of the original call and receiving the call back from them, but at about 5:00 PM they called back and said they had my appointment setup for 6:00 PM.  I wasn't anywhere near ready and I didn't think I would make it there in time.

I started running around trying to get ready to go, but it seemed like all sorts of stuff kept happening that was keeping me from it, yet there wasn't anything in particlular that I can remember.  It just kind of felt like one of those times where I wasn't doing anything and yet I couldn't seem to get going even though the appointment was very important to me.

Time ticked by and eventually it was about 6:30 PM and I still hadn't left.  I was going to try to give them a call to see if they could hold my appointment for me, but just like with getting ready, it seemed like I just couldn't make myself get around to it.
