I started out at either the Harrisonburg mall or the Annapolis mall, and it was night time. The mall had closed and I was leaving and walking through the parking lot with Em (wife), Duane S. (a guy from high school) mom, and maybe Eric and Matthew. (brothers)
While on the way to the car(s), I looked up towards the horizon off to my right, and I noticed a few stars moving around. I slowed down and looked around the sky more, and I could see several groups of stars just starting to move around or just finishing up moving around. They were moving around in different ways. Some went around in small circles, others shot across the sky, and others just wound around and in between other stars.
I realized that this was the first time that I had seen this with other people around. (in other dreams where this happens, I tend to be alone and get scared when I see it) I wasn't as scared as usual because of everyone else being around, and I said something to them about the stars moving.
At first no none believed me because when they'd glance up, nothing moved. It was almost as if the stars knew when I was the one looking up, and if anyone else looked, they'd stop. Then after a time or two of people looking back down and talking amongst themselves again, Duane looked up one time just in time to see it happening. He got all excited and pointed it out to the others. Since more than one person was seeing it now, they paid more attention, and eventually they saw it too.
While watching it, at one point I almost felt the fear of the whole thing closing in on me like it normally does, and I think I realized for a brief moment that I was dreaming. I wound up making myself watch the stars, and within a moment I forgot I was dreaming again and I managed to stay in the dream instead of it scaring me awake.
While watching the stars moving around, I fixated on a small group that were moving around in a tight circle. More stars joined in and the circle grew, and after a short moment, they faded away just as a huge image of the moon faded into it's place. I think I noticed other groups had done the same thing and become some of the planets, but I'm not entirely sure.
The image of the moon stayed in a sort of faded view except for this thin bright arc at the bottom where the sun was shining off of it as if it were very close to New Moon. The moon was the size of a basketball held at arms length. It was absolutely massive!
After a little bit, I got into my car and I was driving around through a neighborhood like Harlequin Lane (where Em's parents live in waking life). It was getting lighter out, and as I was driving, I felt like I was looking for a particular place, but at the same time I wasn't. I wasn't lost, but more like aimless and bored and interested in what would happen to the sky as the dawn continued.
I found that as it got lighter, the stars stopped moving around, and the large translucent image of the moon slowly faded away leaving a moon that was the size of the "real" moon. It still had the same sliver of bright light on the under side, but now it was just normal sized. When I saw this, I commented to myself, "Oh! so THAT's the real size of the moon," as if I had no idea what the real size of the moon was.
Soon after that realization, the dream ended.
