Running for Pizza

I started out talking with Em (wife) about how it would be nice to get some pizza. I decided to leave and go get some from the local pizza place. I believe we were living in Virginia, and it was somewhere outside of Staunton, but it was supposed to be close to Charlottesville, too.

Rather than driving, I decided to run. I was doing okay, and then I got to this road I was supposed to turn on. It was a very large hill that this road went up. I was running on the left side of the road, and I hadn't gotten but a couple hundred feet and I was having an extremely difficult time because the hill was so steep. I could hear someone running close behind me, but I knew they weren't going to go around me until I had pulled off to the side a bit more or started walking. I gave up and decided to just walk the rest of the way. As soon as I did, this tall and muscular guy came running by me. He was in some sort of black or dark blue costume, but I'm not sure exactly how he was dressed.

When I got to the pizza place, I saw that I wasn't the only one that had decided to run there to get the pizza. The big guy was there, too. The pizza place was just a mobile home, and there was a door near the right-hand corner, and when I went inside and looked to the left, I saw that they had seats setup almost as if this were a bus. I went about two-thirds of the way up and sat in a seat on the left. The muscular guy was behind me about five or six seats.

While I was sitting there, I was paying attention to what was going on up front. There was some sort of slide show or overhead projector display, and there were pictures and text being shown. There were two girls that were about my age that were in charge of this slide show, and they were putting up stuff about themselves. The main girl put something up about her having gone to Buffalo Gap High School. For some reason, even though this seemed to be in Virginia, I was surprised to see anyone from Buffalo Gap.

I had a tablet of some sort in front of me to write responses on to "chat" with the people giving the presentation. I wound up asking her if she knew anything about Fort Defiance High School (my old school) and she replied via the overhead that she did. When she replied on the overhead, it also appeared on my tablet that I was using. I tried to find out if she knew anyone from Fort, and she said she remembered a few people mainly from football games.

I was trying to figure out who she might have known that I also knew when it came up that my pizza was ready. The girl and her friend came down from the presentation area and gave me my pizza. I opened it, and it looked pretty good. It was pepperoni and cheese, and I had gotten a single pebble of ground beef or sausage put on there for me. As I was looking at it, someone reached across and flicked the beef/sausage off and it went flying onto the floor. I was disappointed and told them that it wasn't a mistake it was on there and that I had ordered it, and they looked all sheepish because they thought they were doing me a good deed. I didn't care terribly and I left. I walked to the back of the mobile home and turned right, leaving through the door I had entered.

The girl and her friend came up and were walking with me and talking about their old school days and the people from Fort they had met. I didn't recognize most of the people she was talking about, but I still thought it was cool that she even knew about Fort. Also, they had followed me out because the pizza place was closing and everyone was dispersing.

As we got to the road and I was getting ready to start running while carrying the pizza, the girl asked me about the muscular guy. I told her that he had probably already run home, and pointed in the direction of the road I had come from earlier. I was going to have to run uphill again because the road went up and over this hill and down the other side. I told her that he was a pretty quick runner and she may have trouble catching him at this rate, and she figured I was right. She was a little disappointed because she wanted to meet him and didn't get a chance to.
