I started out in a school (much like the gymnasium entrance at Weyers Cave Elementary) or something, but I was leaving with everyone else. There was a huge crowd, and we were all going to go watch the "red eclipse", which was a time that happened very rarely (I think) but was very spectacular to see. It was when the eleven (???) planets and some of their moons would pass between the earth and the sun and cause an eclipse at night. (huh?)
So I was going with the crowd to this spot within the city to watch it. There were some things that happened along the way that slowed me down, but it wasn't anything major. It almost seems as if it was something about making sure that certain friends were coming along to see it.
I think that at one point I was passing a church (which looked much like First Presbyterian in Staunton) and I helped someone along there to be sure to come and see it. I remember looking back at it, like I was looking for someone, and everyone was passing me to go to this spot to see the eclipse. I was walking along with hundreds of people. I don't know what happened with my finding whoever or whatever I was looking for, but I eventually made it to the spot to see the eclipse.
The sky was very dark, but had a deep shade of red blended in with it, and the eleven planets were between us and the sun, and the sun had grown very dim because of the planets blocking the light. The planets looked much like several of earths moons lined up, all of different sizes, and a few of them even having their own moons, which were much smaller than they. With the way that the sun was positioned in relation to the planets, they appeared to be slim white (although somewhat faded) crescents, like the moon is when it is close to the "new moon" phase. The red of the sky enveloped the dark side of the planets, and so they almost looked transparent, just like the dark part of the moon does when it is facing towards us.
After watching this for a moment, even though I didn't see it dissipate, I knew that it was over. I was kind of disappointed that I didn't get to watch it longer, or that it didn't just last longer, but I still thought that it was great that I got to see it. I remember talking with some people about it when it was over.
I was sort of in a field of some type (sort of like a little league baseball field) with a chain link fence bordering it. I was close to the entrance way in the fence, which was a wooden thing that looked somewhat like a concession stand. After being their for a little bit and then heading away, the dream ended.
