Work Warfare

I started out in a place that I think was supposed to be like being at work. It wasn't supposed to be where I actually currently work in waking life, but just "at work" in general. It was this outdoor area, almost like a great stone arena. It seemed to be a very old place because it seems that the stone all around was very worn and chipped and crumbling in places.

I don't remember exactly what was going on, but there were all these people that were down in the center area of this arena where this was this rolling dirt floor (in the same sense as "rolling hills") I think that it turned out that even though we all worked at this place, the management had split us up into two groups and we were supposed to be fighting with one another using various pieces of artillery. We had things like grenade launchers, rifles that shot huge rounds that were an inch and a half across and at least six inches long, and tanks and helicopters with various types of mounted weaponry.

The two sides fought a very intense battle, and even though I objected to the whole idea, I seemed to be about the best shot for our side. It seems that I had not only a large number of good shots that took out lots of people at once (10 to 15?) but I also seemed to be very adept at narrowly missing good shots fired from the other side. As we fought, it seemed that the area that we were in grew until we were fighting over an area of several acres of open but rolling land.

At the end of everything, there were only a handful of us that remained. I believe that we were supposed to go until everyone from one side or the other was dead. There was a small group of about five of us left. We were basically congratulated and sent on our way.

The next thing that I remember was that I was in this building that was supposed to be almost like a warehouse, but it was skinny (maybe only about 20 feet across and high) but a couple of hundred feet long. One end was completely open with no doors or anything, and the back end was completely dark. There was a tank back there, and just behind it was a mechanic's garage that was cordoned off by a chain link fence. The people that I had survived with were milling around and doing things, but I had the feeling that we were really just waiting for something else to happen.

At one point I got up onto the tank and was having a look around. Rich (the location administrator from work) was there and was telling me how to get into the thing and maneuver it around and how to use the gun. The door to it was on top at the right front corner. I let myself down into it, but I had some trouble because of my weight. I was supposed to sit or stand in the thing with my head and shoulders sticking out of the top. Rich was explaining to me how cramped it is with skinny people, but when one was overweight, it really made it difficult to fit everyone in. I believe he was telling me that a total of three people fit in there at a time, and either the other two people were there to support me (the driver) or I was there to support them. Perhaps it was a bit of both.

Soon after this, I got back out. There was a woman who showed up and was telling us about someone that was coming. She didn't seem perturbed at all, but it was just more of an informational thing, and she had a bit of an attitude of the whole idea of them coming towards us being laughable because we'd blow them out of the water. I think the woman was Priscilla. (from the warehouse at work in waking life)

I went with the others to go look at the people that were coming towards us. I'm not sure what I was expecting to see, but what greeted my eyes was a group of about eight belligerent hippies or rednecks standing just outside. The area I was looking from was not the open door at the far end of the warehouse, but from a room/porch/deck area that was off to the right through another door. They were about 30 feet out just standing on the grass in what looked like a public park area. They were yelling at us about something. I don't remember what it was, but it seemed to be that they were just complaining because they could. I wound up using one of the large artillery rifles and shooting a few rounds at them over the banister from where we were looking at them. Not only did I seem to be missing quite a bit, but the shells seemed to be acting more like grenades rather than shells and not exploding until after they'd bounce around and landed for a few seconds, giving the people enough time to move away from them.

When I fired the second time, the shells went and bounced around at their feet, and of them got the idea to pick the thing up and smoke it like a cigarette or joint. Doing that seemed to defuse the thing, and I became worried that they'd all figure out that's how the shells were defused and we'd not be able to kill them. After a short amount of time I fired a couple more shots, and I actually got a few of the people with some well timed explosions.

After clearing out those people, the people in our crew decided that it was time to head out. Some of them, like Priscilla, got into a helicopter, and I got into the tank while some, such as Rich, walked. It was getting darker and was going to be night time soon, and we started heading down the side of the mountain (I guess we were way up on a mountain, but I never recognized it before now) towards our next destination.

Big House and Helicopter Landing Pads

Early on I went to a large house to look for Nick (former step-brother). The house reminded me a bit of Aunt Irene's house on Clark Street when I first went in. As I went in, I was greeted by Toni, my supervisor from work. She was busy cooking something in the kitchen, and after asking me in, she went back to the kitchen to continue working on the cooking. I followed her back there, and she was telling me that Nick was upstairs. I think she mentioned that he was either on the phone or "getting ready" or something like that, and if I listened closely, I could hear him upstairs talking. While I was standing around in the kitchen, I noticed that Toni's son, Kurt (whom I've never met in waking life) was there. He and Toni were talking a bit about something, but I don't remember what.

After a little bit I turned and went back through the house. The dining room seemed to be bigger than it was the first time I walked through it, and as I got back to the front foyer area and looked upstairs, I realized how huge the house actually was. It was like a warehouse or a museum. In fact, there was another dream that I had had where this building was in it. (the one about being up on the second floor, and it was open to the first floor in the same way that malls have second floors that are just walkways around the edge of the structure) As I looked upstairs, and off to the left where the rest of the house branched out, I saw that the rooms were huge. I think that the room off to the left, even though it was a single story room, was taller than the rest of the house, and it seems to have had some museum displays in it, like a big T-Rex skeleton and stuff like that.

I wound up going upstairs to look for Nick because he wasn't coming downstairs quickly enough. I went down the long hallway to his room at the end. He had a bunk bed on the left hand wall that was between two built-in dressers or shelves (so it was almost like the bunk bed was built into the wall) and he had bathroom fixtures, like a sink and a toilet, on the right hand side. He was on the phone, and I tried to let him know I was there. He acknowledged me, but he kept talking on the phone.

I wound up turning around and leaving. I went outside and it was night time out. Right in front of the house was a helicopter, so I got in. I'm not sure if I was piloting or just riding, but I wound up at this large facility that had these large helicopter pads that were suspended up in the air on top of these long metal posts. Some of the pads were only about 50 feet up in the air while others were hundreds of feet up. There were probably about ten of them total, and they were staggered around so that none were directly over top of another, but they were all connected by catwalks and walkways.

I remember something about getting out of the helicopter and walking down along the walkways towards the big building that they were attached to. The building was out on the coast of some large body of water (other dreams took place here. One about looking underwater for something and blowing the place up, I think, and another where it was very cold and I was in a speed boat that was being jumped off of icebergs or something in the water) and it was night time and very chilly and misty out.

I don't remember what happened inside the building or when I came back out. I know I came back out along the walkways again and went to go back to the helicopter I came in on and then I woke up.

The Long Trip

Towards the beginning of the dream I was at work. I found out that I was supposed to be going on some sort of trip, but I'm not sure if it was work mandated or a personal trip. I'm not even sure if I had a definite place I was supposed to be going.

I got onto a computer at work and started mapping out my trip on Google Maps. I was looking at a map of the U.S. and I started the trip from Fort Worth, TX. I then mapped a course out towards New Mexico, then up through Colorado along the front ridge of the Rockies and into Wyoming, then east towards Minnesota and Illinois, and then south again to Texas and back into the DFW area from the east.

After mapping out the trip, it seems that actually made the trip, but I don't remember what happened on it. I think I was following my progress quite a bit on Google Maps, and it kept coming up and showing me where I was turning and whatnot. Unfortunately I don't remember anything else about this one.

Tables Under The Bed

I was at Mike's (former step-father) house with my wife, Em, and I decided to go to Pleasant Valley Church to look for my old friend Andy. I was walking along in front of the church where the sign is, but I didn't see him anywhere, so I went back to Mike's house.

I had been in the process of setting up the downstairs bedroom for me to stay in. I had setup my computer and a stereo of some sort, and I was getting a desk and dresser in place. Then I turned towards the bunk bed on the opposite wall of the room from the window. There were a number of the plastic magazine totes (like what you see for storing magazines on shelves at the library) under the bed and facing out towards the middle of the room.

After clearing out the magazines, I looked behind where they had been. There was a short window (like a basement window) on the left hand side that was letting in light that looked like it was from an early evening sunset. Back against the far wall were two stacks of foldable tables kind of like they use for cafeterias. Even though the bed was normal length, the tables were about six feet long each, and the two stacks were positioned end to end, creating a twelve foot long space under the bed.

The tables were dusty and dirty and smelled a bit. I didn't want to mess with them because I somehow knew that they either had bodies in between them or people had died on them or something. Em came in and pulled one out from under the bed and laid it on the bottom bunk. She then climbed up on it and laid down. She kind of sunk into the table a bit, almost as if it were a tempur-pedic mattress. I told her that I was afraid of the bodies and she needed to put it back. She tried to tell me at first that everything was fine, but I was certain that it wasn't.

She got off the mattress/table and put it back under the bed. We talked about it for a moment, and we decided that it was best to call the police and let them come deal with taking out all the tables because then they could deal with the bodies. It wasn't so much that I was afraid of getting in trouble, but more like I was afraid of having to touch or see the bodies and they might give me nightmares. Em agreed and the dream ended.

Moon Wall-Chart

I was on a bus out on a country road with Em. It was almost like there was no top on the bus, but no wind, too. We were looking at the moon because it was "almost full". It looked full, and even a little squished, but it wasn't actually full yet. As we traveled along and time passed, the way the sunlight hit the moon changed. It started getting redder, and the face of the Man in the Moon starting getting stranger. Eventually most of the moon had faded out except parts of the face which wound up looking like a skull.

After a bit I was in front of this wall with a big wooden door in it that seemed to be out in the middle of a field. Robin Williams was dressed up like a priest and talking to his son about monitoring the moon as their family/tribe has done for hundreds of years. On the wall there were paintings of reeds and marshes and cat tails. Some had a red glow, and others had a white glow, but all were painted against a dark blue sky with stars in it. Some of those glows reached up to the top of the wall.

Robin pointed to a chair that was about 50 feet away in front of the door. There was mannequin/dummy in it that was all leaned back and had a cello resting against it and dressed kind of like a peasant or something out of the middle ages. That was the watch station for the moon.

Some time passed very quickly, and Robin was no longer anywhere to be found. The boy went over to the chair and the dummy had been removed. He sat down in it and started situating himself properly and getting the cello leaned up against him. He was going to watch for the red skull moon to rise exactly over one of the red glows on the wall painting. Just as I was turning to look for myself, my alarm went off and woke me up.

Talking Baby

Either Em had had a baby, or we picked one up somewhere, but at some point I was in the car with mom, Aunt Irene, and someone else, and mom was holding the baby girl. The baby was crying and mom couldn't get her to stop. She wasn't too concerned about it because we were almost home and she figured the baby was just tired or hungry or had a dirty diaper, and it could be taken care of in a little bit.

I realized the that the cries that the baby let out were actually words or partial sentences. I was amazed considering that she was only a few months old. No one else seemed to be able to hear the words, so I started talking to the baby. She realized I could understand her, so she wound up wanting me to hold her. I was in the back seat, so mom handed her over the seat to me. She was aging very quickly and she suddenly seemed to be almost a year old or older. She had blond curly hair and blue eyes. We talked for a little bit, but I forget about what. I think she was just as surprised that I understood her and listened to her as much as I was that she talked in the first place.

Mad in the Hotel

I was in a hotel with a group from school. This is the same hotel/school building I see in a lot of dreams. Anyway, the room that I was in was on the second or third floor, and way down the hallway. The hallway on that floor actually made a complete square and looped back on itself. On the back side of this square somewhere was where our room was. It was actually more of a suite. It had it's own mini hallway that went straight out the main hallway about four feet, then went left about ten feet, and then the door was on the right. Just inside was the common room where the kitchen, dining, and living area were. The kitchen was behind this wall that didn't quite reach the ceiling, and had a door and a window cut into it that faced into the dining/living area. The common room was very large, almost as if it was the size of my entire house. The TV and couches were on the right hand side, and I think there was a second kitchen over there as well. The bedrooms entered from the right and the left.

At one point I got mad at one of the guys I was rooming with (I don't remember why) and went to the front desk to request a new room for myself. The guy from the front desk took me back to the room and tried to tell me that I had to climb through the ceiling in the living room to get there. He started climbing on pipes and such that were on the wall and got up to the ceiling that was about twelve feet up. He was hanging from the ceiling and pushed up a trap door and climbed up in, saying that was my new room. I refused to follow him and left angry. I started walking home, which was grandmamma's house, by walking down 256 in Weyers Cave.

On my way home I ran into Harry Potter and Ron Weasly. They were trying to tell me to go back, and I got mad at them and hurried home. When I got home, it looked like my current house on the inside. I went into the guest bathroom and then came out again, and just as I came out I saw that they were here, and I apologized to Ron. He was happy again and walked in towards the kitchen. Harry hung around for a moment while the guy from the front desk showed up. He came to me acting like he was going to apologize to me for making me mad at the hotel, but rather than doing that, he asked me to apologize to him. I refused to apologize to him because he didn't understand why he made me mad, and I pushed past him. Then my alarm went off and woke me up.
