It started out that I was driving or walking home at night, and I think Nick was there. Just as we were getting home (or coming out of the barn or garage, maybe) and looking towards Massanutten, I saw these green streaks in the sky, like meteorites. I pointed them out to Nick. Then there were a lot of them... more and more coming out of nowhere.
Then I remember that some of them started striking the ground and I remember hearing them and feeling the ground shake. Nick and I ran inside, and I remember telling my parents. At first I had thought that they were meteorites, and it frightened me that they were striking the ground. Then it hit me that some of the stuff looked like anti-aircraft fire, so I thought that maybe this had something to do with the brewing war over in Iraq. I think that we called someone about it, and we were told to stay inside.
I remember being scared that something was going to hit the house and we'd all be killed. While I was inside, I remember that I was doing something with Nick's dad's computer, but I don't remember what.
After a while, I think mom went outside, and I looked out the living room window to see if it was still coming down. I saw only one or two at that point. I went out to the front porch and saw six big ones come down around in the surrounding fields almost all at once. They were so rapid fire that it was within only a second or two they all hit, from right to left. I saw small explosions, and then I saw something moving. There were tractor trailers coming from those spots through the corn field. Somehow I knew that they had been sent back empty from the war, and I think they belonged to the Garbers (a family down the road). I think I may have even seen a tractor (a farm tractor) come from one of them. The trucks were black with black tarps over the tops of the trailers. They all left paths in the corn as they bolted off down to 256, opposite of the Garbers'. I knew I was happy to see them, but I don't remember why.
